awesome guitar work, honestly!!!! you have great flow. Structurally, it feels like the drums should be more present during the louder guitar parts. maybe add a little more bass, too. because this hi-hat is, to me, a little overused.
not sure if you used a software for your drums, and that you were somewhat limited.... and I feel your pain ahahah a good, natural drum flow can be pretty hard to imitate with a software.
Keep going, though. I liked this piece. It's very dreamy, spacy (are those real words?)

VortexVisionz responds:

Thanks for the honest review! I was actually thinking that the hi-hat was a bit much too, but as you said it’s hard to imitate realism using software. It’s still something I’m trying to work on though, but for now it did the job well enough to construct the song. Glad you like it though!

yeah, recoding is pretty clean! but I agree. stick with a rhythm.... Though it's great to see you're not fumbling for notes so much, as you say you're mostly improvising. I would screw up pretty quick, probably, and I'd have to start recording again. Plus, I mostly cover my slopiness into distortion. LoL! (*sob)
So thumbs up for the acoustic improv!

VortexVisionz responds:

Thanks for your kind response! When I created this "Minty Bite" I saw in my mind a scene where 2 people were about to duel with guns like in old western times, which is why I gave a bit of silence during the middle segment, this felt like 2 people were staring each other down before they whip their guns out and start shooting...hence the name "Draw" lol

why does this get down rated??? this is pretty good. I like the way you altered a few times between minor and major

MJTTOMB responds:

Not sure why, but I'm not too bothered either. This was a final project for a graduate course in 18th-century counterpoint, so I got all the validation I needed when the grades came in.

Glad you picked up on the transition to major! That's a very common feature in Bach's minor-key fugues, and I tried as much as possible to stay true to his model.

that's awesome. it starts out very mysterious, and crawly, but I like the dramatic tone it turns into at 2:00. You're a pro

moikmunzi responds:

thanx m8 that means a lot :)

catchy beat at the start! it feels like it's turning into a whole new song at 0:45 :S you should have kept going

VortexVisionz responds:

Thanks! I created that song in about 2 or 3 hours. After that I kinda got lazy and decided to just keep it simple and leave it as is. Although I had the same thought.. I shouldve kept going with it lol. Ah well.. too late now

not too sure what to think about this piece..... it feels like it keeps wanting to take off, but never does. the bass guitar never really kicks in. some tempo issues too..........but hey! I get the buckethead vibe, man

VortexVisionz responds:

Yeah i made that song a long time ago. I recorded the whole song in one take and added a few things here and there so I didnt plan it out too well at the time. Im glad you think it sounds similar to Buckethead though because thats what I was shooting for and its also who I take after whenever I play guitar!

It's a bit repetitive, but you add some melodies and harmonics on top of another, and it gives it enough dimension. and yeah, then the vocoder kicks in, and it makes it awesome! I'm not familiar with the term "pulse bass". Can you help me?
and sorry about your mum

73Quantum responds:

Thanks mate! I'm also not sure about pulse bass, that was in another users review. Thanks a lot for your review, means a lot to me :)

EXPOSURE!!!!!!!!! I like the song, i'd picture myself in a movie, walking home on the sidewalk after I just got this new job I dreamed of

Nothins responds:

gotta be fresh and shiet naw what me sayin wit dem shoes and the junk my nigg (To have that nice dressed up suit and tie nice shiny shoes look you know. I get what you mean

the tracks are blending in strangely together... the piano has lots of echo on it, it's very vapory, but then the synths kick in and they sound too close, too tight compared to the piano.... and you should have kept the faster beats going longer, I think it slowed down too much halfway.

T-rebel responds:

I'm always appreciative of reviews, but I really don't understand most of what you wrote. I can understand how you feel about the beats, though, but I guess it's a difference in taste; I wanted to slow the track down for a minute after the beat cut out during that choral section, and then pick it back up for the finale.

it sounds like a group of cavemen learning to use samples. but it's okay

dante993 responds:

I'm a caveman and I find this offensive.

2 X 4 = 8 bit. I love animating weird stuff, and character slapstick animation.
